Syracuse football has a major 2021 campaign ahead. How will the Orange show unfold with a calendar that offers challenges but offers many matches to be won? Our writers take a look and the predictions vary a bit.

Logan Garvey: 5-7. With an improved offensive line, there might be a chance of winning the draw games that were lost last season. The disruptive defense and award-winning kicker Lou Groza could be the reasons Syracuse could qualify for a bowl game.

Mike McAllister: 6-6. An improved offensive line and a defense that remains one of the best in the country to force turnovers will allow Syracuse to succeed in the 2021 season. There is more depth at several positions than in any year of the Dino era. Babers. The quarterback will determine how far this team will go.

Kathy McCarthy: 4-8. The defense continues to force turnovers to help keep the offense off the field, but that’s not enough. The offensive line will continue to struggle, as will Tommy DeVito. He will be replaced by Garrett Shrader at mid-season.

Milliner Calvin: 7-5. With a young star studded defense, opposing teams will not know what they will face after the departure of André Cisco, Ifetu Melifonwu and Trill Williams. The quarterfinals competition will see Garrett Shrader start the first week. Expect the new Syracuse football team to start hot this year with a 4-0 record.

Syracuse begins its 2021 season on Saturday, September 4 in Ohio. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. EST.
