The Stewart County Board of Elections is accepting applications for the position of ELECTIONS SUPERVISOR. law. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Prepare for and conduct all primary, general and special elections held in Stewart County. Process, evaluate and report election results. Recruit and train constituency poll workers Oversee the processing of voter records. Keeps a complete and truthful record of BOE deliberations and finances. File and retain in the office of the BOE all orders, records and reports relating to the administration of voter registration and elections. Record and maintain minutes of BOE meetings. Audit campaign finance reports. Receive and retain custody of all books, documents and property belonging to the BOE Review all directives, notices, memoranda, correspondence and documents issued by the Secretary of State and take action as required by such communications. Supervise, instruct and manage BOE employees. Develop a draft annual budget for the BOE to review and approve prior to submission to the Stewart County Board of Commissioners, and monitor the board’s budget and payroll against current year appropriations Perform other duties related to the proper conduct of elections as Secretary of State and Council determine. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. Must possess or be able to obtain professional certification as an election official within six (6) months of hiring. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of related work experience, including experience in a supervisory or managerial position is preferred. Work experience in elections, public administration and/or local government is strongly preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position requires the employee to move office equipment, communicate with others, and other physical activities common in an office environment. Moderate physical exertion is present due to the need to bend and kneel. The employee will be sitting and/or standing for long periods of time and may occasionally move boxes or objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, such as using a computer. The work may at times require more than 8 hours per day or require irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position. The employee must have reliable transportation, as the position will require travel between the BOE office and polling stations.
