Teens and young adults can learn workplace skills and earn money this summer through internships at local businesses.

LEAP for Education is running a free summer internship program in 2022 for 14-18 year olds in Gloucester.

Interns will receive Gloucester High School credit and a $500 salary or stipend.

Participants will work virtually or in person for six weeks, from July 11 to August 18, approximately 11 hours per week on a project with a mentor or company, and begin writing a resume for college and future projects. Examples of projects include working on a public art event with Luminartz, animal care at Cape Ann Animal Aid, agricultural work at Appleton Farms, childcare at Pathways for Children, restaurant work at Annisquam Yacht Club , and many others.

They will also attend regular workplace skills workshops with guest speakers on important topics such as job interviews, job hunting and resume writing.
