A committee of Democratic party leaders from Madison, St. Clair and Jersey counties will soon name a replacement for State Sen. Rachelle Aud Crowe, who resigned her 56th District seat.

Anyone interested in applying for the position can send a resume and cover letter to [email protected], according to information provided by Madison County Democratic Party Chairman Randy Harris. The deadline to apply is Wednesday 10 p.m.

You can also email [email protected] with any questions you would like the committee to ask applicants. The committee asks that you include your name and address with your questions.

The committee is made up of Democratic party chairmen from each county: Harris of Madison County, Robert Sprague of St. Clair County and Mark Pohlman of Jersey County.

They will announce their appointment on Friday at 11 a.m. at Labor Local 338, located at 47 W. Ferguson Avenue in Wood River. The meeting will be broadcast live for the general public. To RSVP to attend the meeting in person, email [email protected].

Crowe resigned from the State Senate to take up a position as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.
