Mission Viejo Nadadores, a 501 (c) 3 charity, is looking for a Head Coach to support our mission and guide the development of our team of over 600 swimmers, from beginner to elite. Our facility is outside in Southern California. The candidate will report to the General Manager and be responsible for the overall management of the team, including training programs, pool schedules, supervision of coaches, adherence to policies and procedures, and holding of meetings. staff, as well as other functions. The final candidate must demonstrate their ability to foster a safe, diverse, inclusive, equitable and non-discriminatory training and competition environment for athletes and staff.

Minimum skills:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university; Preferred master
  • Minimum of 5 years or more of training as a head coach with a certified swimming organization in the United States
  • ASCA level 4 certificate. Preferred level 5
  • Advanced understanding of NCAA swimming and recruiting practices and rules
  • Mastery of skills development and coaching strategies
  • Ability to foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Member in good standing with full USA Swimming Coaching Membership
  • Certified first aid and CPR
  • Strong knowledge of safe sport policies and reporting procedures
  • Thorough understanding of USA Swimming rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of National / Jr. National team requirements and qualification procedures for pool and open water
  • Familiarity with Team Unify, Hy-Tek, Meet Manager, Team Manager and Colorado Timing
  • Independently perform all assigned coaching duties for a nationally competitive USA Swimming program

Working conditions, environment and physical requirements:

Must have the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time; demonstrate manual dexterity in dialing a telephone, viewing and reading a computer screen and printed materials with or without visual aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others can understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds at shoulder height and 50 pounds at waist height; and bend over, bend down, sit on the floor, climb the stairs, walk and reach the ceiling. Tasks are normally carried out outside in the premises of the Marguerite Aquatic Center. Tasks may occasionally be performed outside of this environment during outdoor competitions. The noise level in the working environment is generally moderate. Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform essential functions.
