If you own a house in Final Fantasy XIV and you haven’t logged into the game for a while, there’s bad news. Automatic demolition of housing estates resumes on March 9. But don’t panic because there is still a way to save your home.
Before that, a brief recap of what this feature is. The game allows a player to buy land and build a house on it. Since its introduction there has been a high demand and eventually not everyone can get it.
To ensure land does not sit idle, estates that have not been accessed for a period of time are automatically demolished and those lands are relisted.
Automatic demolition has been suspended in December 2021 mainly to congestion caused by the release of Endwalker. With that issue resolved, it’s no surprise to learn that auto-demolition is back.
The development team revealed that the automatic demolition counter is reset for certain subdivisions based on the use of the dwellings during the period that the demolition of the subdivision was suspended. For example, if an estate has not been built on the land, the counter could be reset upon entering the estate once it has been built.
For players who were able to enter their domain at least once during the suspension period, the self-demolition timer resets for free corporate domains that were entered by a leader or member at least once . For private domains, the timer resets if they have been entered by the owner at least once. The count of inactivity days for the aforementioned domains starts again on March 9.
Meanwhile, for players who were unable to enter their realm during the suspension period, the auto demolition timer resumes from the time remaining on December 5.
The team went on to say that a notification will be sent to the email address registered to the Square Enix accounts of players whose domains are being prepared for automatic demolition within ten days of the clock resuming. To avoid this issue, the team suggests players log in and enter their realm before the auto-demolition timer resumes on March 9.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
