UIC Flames Athletics is an NCAA Division I athletic program, sponsoring 300 student-athletes in 18 varsity sports. UIC will become the 12th member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) beginning in the 2022-23 academic year.

Reporting to the Athletic Director (or designate), the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Head Coach provides leadership in the personal, academic and athletic development of student-athletes, and is responsible for the organization, direction and administration of all facets of a competitive NCAA Division I swimming and diving program.

• Coach and train team members during practices and competitions. Assess skills and instruct athletes on technique.

• Oversee the recruitment of potential student-athletes. Identify, assess, contact and meet with student-athletes and parents. Organize campus tours and attend competitions to observe prospects.

• Organize, plan and schedule daily training and exercises. Implement the match preparation plan; determine game strategy.

• Collaborate with athletic staff and university faculty to monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure that athletic eligibility and academic standards are maintained.

• Schedule competitions and develop travel plans. Manage the budget.

• Develop and promote summer camps.

• Participate in fundraising and alumni relations activities.

• Adhere to all University, Horizon League and NCAA rules and regulations.

• Develop and promote summer camps (if applicable).

Staff management

• Plan, assign and review staff work to ensure group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure qualified staff exist to achieve group goals.

Perform other related tasks and participate in special projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in sports management, education or related field. Favorite master.

Direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required. CPR and safety certifications.

A minimum of five years of experience as a sports coach. Strong interpersonal, managerial and

communication skills.
