ST. THOMAS – No matter what your business, there is bound to be paperwork and letters to write. Maybe your business is small and can’t afford to hire a full-time secretary to handle these tasks while you go about your day-to-day business. The front door reception can assist you by offering secretarial services, mostly remote, to help your business stay organized.
Front Door Reception is a service created by Cherese Tyson of St. Thomas, who has extensive secretarial experience. Graduating in 2015 from the University of the Virgin Islands with a degree in Business Administration, Tyson’s experience stems from her work as legal assistant to lawyer Sharmane Davis Brathwaite, as well as the office of lawyer AJ Weiss and Associates. She has been an executive assistant to the General Manager of Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina and to the Vice President of Banco Popular in the Commercial Lending Unit.
Tyson started his own business with the continued encouragement of his SBA instructor, Daryl Edwards, who was also his instructor at UVI. She opened Front Door Reception in October and specializes in rapid printing services, business letters, general office pickup and delivery services, 24 hour response service, resume writing and online job application services.
“I’m surprised at the awareness and the calls we get on a daily basis, so there is a lot of need here in our community,” she said. “There is a great need for people who cannot write a traditional letter, who need extra help with delivery services, a great, great need for businesses and individuals who need help with delivery. their current secretarial needs. Not all businesses can afford to hire a part-time or full-time person to do it.
The target audience for the front door reception are veterans and working class citizens aged 18 and older, many of whom may not have desks or secretaries. Not only will they type your letter, but they will also follow up on it.
Front Door Reception will also perform custom work for businesses with special needs.
“There are companies or individuals who have special requests,” Tyson said. “I received a call from a bank secretary. She hired us to fill out several monthly reports that she had and I already knew what to do, having worked in a bank. There are secretaries who need a secretary for a while, and we are here for that and will protect all your information and keep it confidential.
“We have an impressive turnaround time, usually around 48 hours, so you’re either going to hear us or we’re going to complete the task within that time frame. We’ll also match any available pricing, just so we can connect with a new customer, try to grow, and try to get to know the community better. “
One popular service they offer is the posting of resumes and job applications, a useful service now that businesses have opened up after closures caused by the pandemic. When a candidate first applies online, it can take a while, Tyson said. Front Door Reception can do this for you and it’s free for their target market.
Since 90% of Front Door Reception activities are done remotely, Tyson can work from his home office at Estate Wintberg.
“I love him,” she said. “We do a lot from a distance. Many offices or agencies can continue to do things remotely. I’ve noticed that with the courts they’re scheduled for Zoom until December, so it looks like we’ll have to get used to them a bit. “
Working remotely allows Front Door Reception to act as a global secretarial services company that can virtually serve clients anywhere in the world, although, being headquartered in St. Thomas, they are able to provide specialized services to the Virgin Islands. They can meet directly with the individual or business owner at their place of work and can offer extensive delivery and other personalized services.
The front door reception also addresses the community in another way. The company is a strong supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of the Virgin Islands under the leadership of Executive Director Jackie Brown.
“It’s so important not only to do business in the community, but it’s also important to reach out to the community when it comes to volunteer services,” Tyson said.
