Vermont Legal Aid is reopening the search for a full-time disability law attorney to work in the southern part of the state. The position is remote, until VLA changes its remote work policy this summer, after which it will be based in our Rutland or Springfield offices.

We encourage applications from a wide range of backgrounds and welcome feedback on how your experience can help serve our diverse customer communities. Applicants are encouraged to share in their cover letter how they can advance our social justice and individual rights goals. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.

Responsibilities include individual and systemic advocacy in a variety of forums on behalf of people with disabilities. Case work primarily involves disability discrimination, special education, government benefit programs, guardianship, and other areas of individual rights.

The starting salary is $57,500+, with additional salary credit granted for relevant prior work experience. Four weeks of paid vacation and retirement, plus excellent health benefits. Lawyer applicants must be licensed to practice law in Vermont or be eligible for waiver admission. In-state travel in personal vehicle required.

The application deadline is May 31st. Your application should include a cover letter and resume, bar status, writing sample, and at least three professional references with contact information, sent in a single PDF.
